Survivor Benefit:

*A Pre-Existing Condition means the insured employee:

received medical treatment, consultation, care or services including diagnostic measures, or took prescribed drugs or medicines in the 3 months just prior to their effective date of coverage; or the employee had symptoms for which an ordinarily prudent person would have consulted a health care provider in the 3 months just prior to their effective date of coverage; and
the disability begins in the first 12 months after the employee’s effective date of coverage

 

Coverage Termination
An employee’s coverage under the plan will end on the earliest of:

the employee’s 65th birthday;
the date the policy or a plan is cancelled;
the date the employee is no longer in an eligible group;
the date the employee’s eligible group is no longer covered;
the last day of the period fro which the employee made any required contributions; or
the last day the employee is in active employment, unless they are absent due to a covered layoff or leave of absence.

RBC Insurance’s Group LTD Income Protection Program offers these family focused benefits and support services:

    Work-life Balance Employee Assistance Program: provides access to a comprehensive employee assistance and work-life program for the insured employee and their family, to help manage workplace stress and deal more effectively with personal issues ranging from severe to everyday problems. As an additional feature, the program includes the OnClaim Support Service.
    Dependent Care Benefit: pays an additional $350 per dependent per month, to an overall family maximum of $1,000, to disabled employees who are receiving LTD payments while participating in the Rehab/Return to Work Assistance Program.

If If diagnosed with a serious illness or injury, an employee can access a “second opinion” through a comprehensive medical evaluation performed by the Best Doctors® expert team of physicians.Using its global database of over 50,000 renowned physicians, Best Doctors® works directly with the employee’s treating physician to access and consult with the top medical experts to re-define or confirm an employee’s medical diagnosis and treatment protocol, as well as locate the most qualified specialists meeting their specific medical needs.Best Doctors® offers ongoing assistance with hospital admittance, medical appointments, cost estimates, billing review, as well as travel and lodging arrangements should the employee need to travel outside Canada for appropriate treatment.Finally, Best Doctors® will continue to monitor the treatment process to ensure the employee’s medical needs are being met.Refer to Best Doctors® brochure for a complete listing of covered illnesses and injuries.

     

    Rehabilitation & Return to Work Assistance Program
    Provides a rehabilitation and return to work assistance benefit for disabled employees who are receiving LTD payments, and who are medically able to participate. RBC Insurance will determine eligibility for this program.

     

    Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)
    Provides a monthly cost of living adjustment after the insured has been disabled and receiving monthly payments for a defined period of time. The cost of living adjustment will be added to the monthly payment each month.

     

    Return to Work Program Development
    As part of RBC Insurance’s Return to Work program development, we provide a return-to-work prescription for the employer that is available online at no additional charge. Web-based www.WorkRx.com and user friendly, this service is a premier resource to enable the employer to develop their own return to work program, or improve an existing one.We also offer, for an additional fee, custom Return to Work program development services. This level of service is available to larger employers who desire to access the services of a senior Return-to-Work Program Developer. With purchase of this program, the employer can access:

    A comprehensive analysis of their present return to work capacity
    Program development services that create a unique and personalized return to work blueprint for their company
    Intensive program implementation services, first through a pilot and ultimately throughout their entire organization, and

      All active full-time employees working 20 hours a week are eligible to apply for Voluntary Life Insurance. You must submit an Evidence of Insurability form to purchase any Voluntary Life Insurance.RBC Insurance will review information provided in your Evidence of Insurability form and either approve or decline your request for Voluntary Life Insurance. Please visit the Forms section of the website to download the Voluntary Life Application form and Evidence of Insurability form.
